The California Code of Regulations, to which we are mandated to abide, define an AOD p...rogram as one of the following: (A) A driving under the influence program licensed pursuant to Chapter 9 (commencing with Section 11836), Part 2, Division 10.5 of the Health and Safety Code (HSC), and the provisions of Chapter 3 (commencing with Section 9795), Division 4, Title 9 of the California Code of Regulations (CCR); (B) A narcotic treatment program licensed pursuant to Article 1, Chapter 10 (commencing with Section 11839), Part 2, Division 10.5, HSC, and the provisions of Chapter 4 (commencing with Section 9995), Division 4, Title 9, CCR; (C) A residential alcohol or drug abuse recovery or treatment program licensed pursuant to Chapter 7.5 (commencing with Section 11834.01), Part 2, Division 10.5, HSC, and the provisions of Chapter 5 (commencing with Section 10500), Division 4, Title 9, CCR; (D) An alcohol or drug recovery or treatment program certified to receive Medi-Cal reimbursement pursuant to Section 51200, Title 22, CCR; (E) An alcohol or drug recovery or treatment program certified pursuant to Section 11830, Chapter 7, Part 2, Division 10.5, HSC; or (F) An alcohol or drug recovery or treatment program funded pursuant to Part 2, Division 10.5, HSC (commencing with Section 11760). Attention Students in The Addiction Studies Program The state is reinforcing a regulation that Work-Experience hours must be done in a State Certified Agency. The Work-Experience hours are those hours that are/were done out of school: before, in-between, and after, the Field-Work Classes. This does NOT affect your LBCC graduation from the Addiction Studies Program, and it does NOT affect your 250 hours of practicum. The practicum hours are recognized, and upon the completion ...of the LBCC Addiction Studies Program, you will receive your LBCC certification(s), and as soon as you finish your HS 72B class with a passing grade or higher, you will still be eligible to sit for the state exam and become a CATC. It is highly recommended to do your out-of-school Work Experience hours in a state-certified agency. Please email your questions to Professor Mahdavi at [email protected]

We are extremely elated to announce that CAADE's certifying board, the Addiction Counseling Certification Board of California (ACCBC), has received accreditation for five years! What does this mean for the students of the Alcohol and Drug Studies? That means that you will be able to register with ACCBC in the fall. We just received the great news and will keep you apprised of the next steps. More information will be provided. Spread the word. #AddictionStudies #CAADE #CATC #AlcoholAndDrugStudies #Education
