NEW COFFEE ALERT This Christmas Eve we have a gift for all of you: the Colombia Monteblano Pink Bourbon. This coffee is cold fermented, creating a balance of sweet and savory flavors like chocolate truffle, tobacco, and whiskey, with a sweet middle and finish of maple, peach, vanilla, and elder flower. Want to know the story of this coffee, and how we came to know it and it’s creators? Read to the end!... Back in 2018 our roasters took a trip down to Colombia to taste new coffees and build new relationships. They were hosted by farmer Rodrigo Sanchez and his wife Claudia. Rodrigo took them to one of his family farms, Finca Monteblanco, located high along the winding mountain roads of Vereda Tocora. That day it happened to be raining. As they walked through the mountainous terrain, in the rain, they spotted these bright pink cherries. They stopped to investigate, and Rodrigo encouraged them to try them. Inside was sweet and juicy and as they marveled over the unique look and taste, Rodrigo proceeded to tell us the story of how he discovered this varietal. In 2002, Rodrigo participated in a local program teaching local children of coffee producers to cup. Before that, he and his family had never considered coffee in terms of cup profile. By learning to differentiate profiles, he and his father and grandfather were able to make the connections between the farming techniques they applied and the coffee’s attributes in the cup. This led him to explore the trees planted on Monteblanco, where he discovered various varieties his grandfather had planted in the 1980s. In addition to the varieties most common in Colombia, Rodrigo found there were trees he had not noticed before, trees with different characteristics, including broad leaves that looked like Geisha. In the cup, the coffee he harvested also tasted like those of Geisha. This was the beginning of Pink Bourbon lot separation. We hope you enjoy this coffee as much as we do! . . . #loftycoffeeco #sandiego #northcountysandiego #encinitas #solanabeach #littleitaly #lacosta #sandiegofood #organic #local #localbusiness #coffee #pastry #cravethis

It’s our roaster’s (@sirisimran ) 5th anniversary of being here at Lofty Coffee, and our junior roaster’s (@joey_gia) birthday today! Thank you both for everything you do here at Lofty, we love & appreciate you so much!! Wish them happy days along with us, and check out what Siri has to say about her time at Lofty:... Working with coffee really means working with people. It’s this massive industry of human interaction that keeps me excited and curious about everything that is coffee. For 5 years Lofty has given me the space to be curious and to strive to be a better roaster, cupper, barista, professional and leader. Everyday is a new opportunity to learn something new and to prove to myself I can be more dialed in than I was the day before. Thank you to @beaconlacosta and @halliphotoandco for this amazing video highlighting the roasting process! - #LoftyCoffee #coffeeroasters
