#FightBloodCancer - We remember Robert "Robbie" Roesler de Villiers, the inspiration and motivation behind the founding of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. In 1944, Robbie passed away from leukemia at the age of 16. Frustrated by the lack of effective treatments for what was then considered a hopeless disease, his parents Rudolph and Antoinette Roesler de Villiers started a fundraising and education organization in their son's name in 1949. Today is World CML Day and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and others honor those who are living with, who have survived from or have passed from chronic myeloid leukemia (CML). WWE Superstar Roman Reigns, who serves as an LLS Ambassador for LLS, is a CML survivor who has benefited from treatment advances.
