During this strange time of COVID 19, with all of its daily life challenges, I have found peace in sitting by the ocean, specifically a beach called Dog Beach, which is people and d...og-friendly. I have enjoyed watching the waves roll in. the changing moody skies, the sounds and sea smells, and the peace and contentment people and animals find in this open space where one can truly breathe. These pieces are digitally enhanced photographs printed on rice paper and presented on 8 x 8 x 1-1/2 birch panels. They are further enhanced with encaustic (luscious and ethereal beeswax with damar resin), pigment sticks, tar, and incisions, and various scribbles and mark making. The color palette is primarily warm golden and red tones with also the blues and sea greens of the scapes, revealing the calm and peace one feels in this open space. Liz Hampton-Derivan, 2020

My new granddaughter, Natalie, was born on June 8, 2020. So, this piece is in honor of her birth! I've had this little gown and wanted to do something with it for years now, and finally, here it is!
