Has your primary doctor ever said your thyroid looks normal? Even after persisting it may be an issue? Unfortunately, this is too common. . The reference ranges that doctors look at are very wide and are meant to diagnose disease. Almost always, the only test run is for TSH. This is like only reading the back of a thinking you read the entire thing. Nope! . If your symptoms aren’t progressed enough to be diagnosable (thankfully!), you’ll likely be given the everything lo...oks normal response and still feel off. . So, step 1 - Fill out our metabolic assessment form . Step 2 - run a FULL thyroid panel not just TSH, which is a brain hormone, not a thyroid hormone. . Step 3 - have us interpret your results using functional values because normal is far from optimal! . Our point? If you’re feeling off, there is a lot more to consider before accepting normal as your final answer. . Can you relate? See more

How many of you have gone to see a doctor with a list of symptoms only to be told that after running a bunch of tests that everything looks normal? Cool, now what? . The reference ranges that medical doctors look at on lab work are statistical ranges that take into account 95% of the population. These populations don’t have a formal disease diagnosis. That's actually a VERY large range. . Doctors use these reference ranges to diagnose disease, BUT until you actually devel...op a diagnosable disease that falls close to or outside of these reference ranges, you're told that everything looks "normal. . Normal is certainly is not optimal, especially when you're symptomatic enough to be going to the doctor for help in the first place. . So what can you do? You seek a different health care model; one that looks at the interconnectednes of the body's symptoms as a whole, that focuses on addressing the root cause of imbalances and dysfunctions, and on reversing disease trends. . That's what functional medicine aims to do. . We think conventional medicine is great and there is absolutely a time and place for it - they really do save lives! But sometimes, Functional Medicine can be a valuable resource when other interventions have failed. We can benefit from both. . If you have chronic symptoms, please know your symptoms are real and they can be addressed. You just need to know where to look. Tag someone who needs to hear the other side of the story and let us know if you can relate. See more
