I picked the breadfruit leaf when I designed the logo for the kids' cookie business. I wanted something that would represent our Polynesian heritage. The leaf is meant to be purple to stand out, plus purple happens to be my favorite color Growing up, I was always fascinated by Tahitian mythology/folklore. The story of the breadfruit is one of my favorites. According to legend, a long time ago, a famine hit the island of Raiatea. This young father couldn't stand seeing his f...amily suffer any longer and sacrificed himself for them. His body turned into a breadfruit tree which allowed his family to survive the famine. Minus the cannibalistic theme, this story illustrates a father's love for his family, his willingness to do anything to provide for them.
