Friends in the Sacramento area! There is currently NO animal control service due to Covid. This means if your pet escapes on July 4th (or any other time) there ...is nobody to catch/hold them. Since fireworks are already starting, take the time this week to: -Make sure your fence is secure, cover any holes even if you think they’re too small to get through. -Check your dogs microchip information and update if needed. I know we all forget sometimes. -Make sure their collar tags have up to date phone numbers. -If your dog has a history of jumping fences, take them out on leash in the evening/nighttime to be extra safe. -If you are someone who takes them outside to potty in an unfenced area without a leash because they have good recall, put them on a leash until the fireworks stop next month. All it takes is one big boom for them to lose their recall and go running.
