In this time of a pandemic and the movement for racial equity and justice, Linked Learning pathways provide students with new and creative opportunities to connect, learn and express themselves through civic action. Through Linked Learning, young people are encouraged to develop the self-agency and motivation to vote and mobilize, hold leaders accountable, and keep advocating for themselves and their communities. Join us on Wednesday October 28, 2:30pm PST to hear from Linked... Learning students and educators who are leading efforts to advance social justice and racial equity in their communities through action civic projects and coursework tied to the industry theme of their pathway. Learn how Linked Learning pathway design fosters academically rigorous, student-centered projects that provide students with opportunities to dive deeply into a real-world topic or issue of their choice; develop the research, analysis, writing, and oral presentation skills needed for postsecondary success; and prepare them to engage in lifelong civic discourse and action. https://forms.gle/bySBjekxxMW5XLeu7

Get set up for civic success -- pre-register to vote! California youth who pre-register to vote will have their registration become active once they turn 18 years old. Why pre-register? Academic studies and electoral analyses show that voting behavior is habit-forming. If you vote, you will likely keep voting. If you don’t vote, you probably won’t start. Its important to engage early on to create a habit of voting and civic engagement.
