Intermediate dance class has been added from 6-7 pm! Adolfo and Cat from Time2Swing. $12 for the lesson. If you take the class, admission to the dance is $8 instead of $10. AND, new teachers (Zach and Lisa) for the FREE beginning lesson! A note from our new intermediate dance teachers:... We are a husband and wife dance duo, Adolfo and Cat! We've been avidly dancing since 2013. We met in high school and never considered ourselves dancers. Growing up playing various sports, we never paid attention to the dance floor. But in late 2012 we saw couples dancing Swing and Lindy Hop at Disneyland and immediately wanted to learn "how they did that!" Since that day, we began practicing from videos on the internet in Cat's garage everyday after school for hours. We were hungry college students, we didn't have a lot to spend on dance lessons. A huge shoutout to Frankie Manning, Erin Stevens, and Shauna Marble from Lindy Ladder. We played their videos over and over, until we felt confident in our movements. Soon we began going to various dance studios (yay for paychecks!) learning and advancing our knowledge of other dance styles. We always push our limits and we've been trained in various Ballroom and Latin dances such as; Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, Rumba, Cha-Cha-Cha, Salsa, Bachata and Merengue. However, our primary focus is Swing dancing. We have danced Swing in five music videos (The Moontones [2], Suzie and the Cruisers [2], Patrice Jegou [1]) and one independent film. We have been teaching since 2015 and have choreographed numerous wedding dances, Quinceañeras, and more. We love seeing the joy on our students faces as they continue to learn, along with building lasting relationships. New teachers for the FREE lesson: Lisa is a passionate Swing Dancer from Orange County who has been dancing for well over ten years. Her Lindy hop journey began in college in Houston Texas where she fell in love with Jazz and Blues music. A native Californian, she later moved to Los Angeles where she was exposed to Smooth LA style and began to compete in the Team Devision at the yearly National Jitterbug Camp Hollywood Event. She is active on Performance Teams as well as Competitive teams that dance both Smooth LA Style and Savoy Style. She believes strongly in sharing the love of Lindy Hop through supporting the community as an Event Organizer as well as an avid Social Dancer and Teacher. Zachary is an avid swing dancer in the Los Angeles Lindy Hop and LA smooth style dance scenes. He has competed and performed at events such as Camp Hollywood and Inspiration Weekend, including co-coaching his own student team to placing at the International Jitterbug Championships, student division. Trained in classic Lindy Hop and now focused on smooth style dancing to the soulful tunes of the 50’s and 60’s, he loves teaching and sharing his growing knowledge of the dance.
