About 1,000 teachers and other school employees from across San Joaquin County came to the SJCOE’s first COVID-19 vaccine clinic on Friday afternoon. The clini...c was the soft open for the series of vaccination clinics the SJCOE is holding on its campus in Stockton over the next few weeks. Educators said they were excited to get vaccinated, and they hoped that it would help to bring more students back into the classroom for in-person instruction. The vaccination clinics are only open to school employees from all public and private K-12 schools in San Joaquin County by invite only. Pre-registered and pre-scheduled school employees will be vaccinated on the designated vaccination days. This is possible because San Joaquin County Public Health Services has authorized the San Joaquin County Office of Education to administer Pfizer Vaccine to K- 12 school employees in the county. The SJCOE, school leaders from across the county, and San Joaquin County Public Health Services have been coordinating to efficiently and equitably administer vaccines to school staff. At this time, employees of LUSD are eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine at the San Joaquin County Office of Education. Thank you to the wonderful staff at the County Office for strategically organizing this huge process! Vaccines for our employees will be administered by age groups, at various times over a period of several weeks. In order to vaccinate all of our employees, some of the appointments will be scheduled during the school day. If your student is engaged in ...distance learning, they may be assigned asynchronous instruction for a portion of the school day in order to accommodate the vaccination appointment for your child’s teacher. Your child’s teacher will continue to communicate with you or your student about the learning plans for each day. Please reach out to them if you have any questions. The registration period for new students, preschool, transitional kindergarten and kindergarten will be from March 1, 2021 through March 19, 2021. We will continue to accept registrations after this period; however, students who register between March 1, 2021 and March 19, 2021 will receive priority in placement. Preschool: Your child must be 3 or 4 years old (priority goes to children who are 4 years old or will turn 4 by September 1, 2021.... Transitional Kindergarten: Your child must turn 5 between September 2, 2021 and December 2, 2021. Kindergarten: Your child must be turn 5 by September 1, 2021.
