KEEP PRAYING!!! Earlier this week, when our team returned to the home they have been working on from hurricane Matthew, we were shocked by what we found. We spe...nt yesterday gutting a home for an elderly couple, the husband had undergone surgery recently and was in a great deal of pain, they were living in a camper they had placed in their back yard. When our team leader, Bobby, got there this morning to continue working on their flooded home, he knocked on the camper door to let the elderly couple know they would be working in the home. The wife was frantically talking on the phone with 911 and told Bobby that her husband had just shot himself. Bobby, Mike and one of the ladies who has been through the first two levels of our Faith Based First Responders (FBFR) training conferences, rushed into the camper, Bobby ran for rubber gloves while Mike and one of the ladies lifted the man off the bed onto the floor so they could administer CPR and as Bobby returned, the police arrived and took over. He did not survive the gun shot. We here at Christ In Action are continuing to stay in contact with this sweet lady who has just lost her husband of more than 50years. They had no children and there are no living relatives that we know of. We are committed to walk along side of her as she plans her husband's funeral and then walk through the funeral with her. We are also connecting her to the pastor of our host church here in Goldsboro. Please pray for this lady and for our team. This emphasizes our purpose for being here. There have been many times where we have been successful at intervening suicide intentions on these deployments but today we were not able. Yesterday when we were working on the house and interacting with the couple there were no warning signs. We have to leave it in God's hands. His widow called today to tell us when the memorial service will be and asked for the contact information for Christ In Action, saying that they want people to donate to the ministry in lieu of flowers. We are so humbled that she would make such a decision. When we told her that we want to be at the service but we don't have nice dress clothing she said "you all wear your red shirts!!!" We chuckled and promised her we would wear "clean red shirts." We are so honored and humbled that God would use us in this way at this time in her life. THANK YOU for praying for our team and this deployment, God has us at the right place at the right time and your prayers sustain us as we continue to bring hope to America's families, even in tragic times like this.

Today we got to pray with the gentleman on the left to rededicate his life to Christ when we helped him with his home. This is how we bring hope. This is why we do what we do!
