Lewis Grace Winery

When you walk up to our tasting room, you will see this beautiful Flame Seedless table grapevine. It was found trampled and flattened on the ground under a collapsed wire fence when the Grace family acquired the ranch in 2000. It was staked up and protected from the adjacent winery footing excavation. When the entry was constructed, it was trained up the structure and eventually to trellis wires extending to the rusty metal wall outside the door. It produces beautiful clusters of edible table grapes and is a striking sight to behold at harvest time!

This beautiful piece now lives in the Lewis Grace Tasting Room, but it used to live in the upscale Hugo's Restaraunt at the Hyatt in Incline Village. Repurposed for it's beauty, this was the custom built rotisserie that displayed the famous roasted ducks at the restaurant, as they slowly twirled and cooked against the vertical heating elements at the back of the piece. Built to show off the signature dish, we are sure the aromas coming from this rotisserie were amazing! Check it out next time you are in! #repurposed #reuse #historic #mountainwine #craftsmanship

If you visit this weekend you'll see our amazing Cabernet Sauvignon going through veraison! This is when the green berries start to get their color, and we believe it is a beautiful time to see the vineyards! The vines all have their own timelne. The Tempranillo is already done, ("temprano" means "early" in Spanish so they always get to veraison first!) while our Petit Verdot is still waiting for the first signs of color. Stop by this month and when you do, check out the new Tasting Room sign! What's the big deal you ask? Well, here at Lewis Grace, we have tried to repurpose old and discarded objects of all kinds which adds to the character and charm of the property. This old, rusty, HEAVY water tank was fed from a well on the property and supplied the Irving Family water on the historic ranch. It was deep in the basement of the house, and was quite the feat to get it out! At Lewis Grace Winery there are many more stories of beautiful things repurposed for other uses around the property.
