I’m worth it. Today for the first time in my almost 20 year career in medicine I heard a woman say, I’m worth it. I wanted to scream, Amen sister! I want my daughter to grow up knowing that her life and her health matters. Women too often ingest the subtext that they should tough it out. My message to all women is to TRUST your body. If it’s telling you something, please listen, and then find a health care professional who will listen and help. Remember, your sleep, sanity, sexual health, mood, and quality of life are all worth it. #curiemd #menopause #insomnia #hotflashes #brainfog #midlifewomen #menopausematters

Recording a podcast on how and why we sleep. It’s a crucial building block of health. It’ll be out soon. In the meantime, you can hear our discussion on hormones at A Clever Girl Would with Gretchen Leonard on Apple Podcasts. #perimenopause #menopause #hotflashes #insomia #weightgain #sleeplove

Most people can lose weight. The problem is KEEPING IT OFF. The National Weight Control Registry (NWCR) is tracking over 10,000 individuals who have lost significant amounts of weight and kept it off for long periods of time. People in the NWCR who have been able to maintain weight loss have these characteristics: - 78% eat breakfast every day - 90% exercise 1 hour per day (a MUST) - reduced fat (fat was only 24% of their daily calories) - self monitoring of dietary intake... and activity with logs - consumption of low or no calorie sweeteners - regular self-monitoring of weight - 75% weigh at least once a week - limited TV watching - 62% of these people watch fewer than 10 hours per week pf TV. #antiaginginsideout #docmeserve #weightmaintenance See more

View from the cocktail party at the NAMS convention. Alzheimer’s is more common in women, and we learned that the neurological transition to dementia starts in PERI-MENOPAUSE! It is UBER important to keep our triglycerides (TG, one of the cholesterol measurements) and blood sugar under control in our 40s and beyond! Decreasing levels of estrogen also play a role here. Make sure your TG and blood sugar levels are checked every year or two. #antiaginginsideout #docmeserve #brainhealth #sugarcontrol
