It’s amazing how the Lord can speak to us through just one scripture out of the whole Bible! And somehow, they’re always right on time! There are so many things that can burden us, stress us out, make us worry and fear but time and time again, we see the Lord reminding us that there is no reason to worry, to feel burdened because He will always sustain us. This is one of my absolute favorite scriptures! Just like every other scripture in the Bible, it’s timeless. It’s never irrelevant. It’s so easy to get wrapped up in worry and anxieties. It’s so easy to let them consume us and overwhelm us. But the Bible tells us that it doesn’t have to. Instead of stressing, worrying, or being anxious about anything in life, pray about everything! Make God the focus of your day through prayer, supplication, and thanksgiving! Make your requests, your worries, your anxieties, known to the Lord! Be thankful to Him every single day because His mercies are new every morning! Humbly make your requests known to God, that’s what supplication is. Happy Devotion Friday - Youth Edition! This weeks scripture we’d like to share is found in Philippians 4:6 NKJV, it says Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. This scripture truly reflects how we as children of God should feel daily. But what exactly is this scripture saying? Let’s break it down so we can fully understand what the Apostle Paul was saying to the church of Philippi!... First, it says be anxious for nothing. That’s pretty simple. But how can we be anxious about nothing when so many things are going crazy or are out of our control? This is also simple, instead of being anxious, we are instructed to do something very specific. It says in EVERYTHING by PRAYER and SUPPLICATION - what is supplication? Supplication is literally defined as the ACTION of asking or begging for something earnestly or humbly. That means instead of worrying about anything, we must do something - what? We must pray (speak to the Lord) and humbly/earnestly ask Him, with thanksgiving (thankfulness and praise), and let Him know what it is we need. This scripture specifically says we must make our requests known to the Lord. Yes, God knows all things but He wants you to make your requests known to Him. He wants you to speak to Him. To acknowledge Him. And in doing this, we can rest in the peace and comfort of knowing God has always had and always will have everything in control. Be encouraged this week! Worry about nothing, but in EVERYTHING make your requests known to the Lord
