Legacy Hospice & Palliative Care have been such a blessing in our families life. My precious Mom was diagnosed with Stage 4 stomach cancer this past June, and I needed to find a Hospice care to help us. Legacy was recommended to me. They came to our home and had all the equipment she needed to be comfortable and cared for the day I spoke with them. They were so attentive to my Moms every need, and gave us all so much peace in her last two weeks here with us before ...going to be with our Lord. She was kept so comfortable and we are so grateful to Rick and Katie and their staff of nurses. Seven months later this past January, my husband got very ill. It was recommended that I put him on hospice. I called Rick at Legacy and explained the situation. He send a nurse out to evaluate my husband and he was put on hospice in our home. I was heartbroken that my husband would not live past 8 days. I was so grateful once again to have Legacy in my loved ones care. They helped our family through his last days here before going to be with our Lord. They kept him so comfortable and he passed so peacefully. Thank you Rick, Katie and your staff for your compassion and wonderful care of our loved ones. -Connie B.

"I wish to extend my heartfelt thanks to all at Legacy who supported my father after his sudden diagnosis of late-stage cancer. The nurses were understanding, professional, responsive, and provided so much comfort and support to not only my father but my family during the whole process. I would also like to thank the owner Rick for his generosity and kindness. Although I would not wish for anyone to go through a similar experience, please know that you can trust Legacy with your loved ones and that they truly, truly care." -Julie T

November is National Hospice & Palliative Care Month. This month we are reaching out to raise awareness about the highest quality care for people coping with life-limiting illnesses. What’s the difference between Hospice and Palliative? Hospice is care without curative intent, a hospice patient no longer has curative options. Palliative care is care with or without curative intent. Every year, according to the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization, nearly 1.6 mil...lion people living with a life-limiting illness receive care from hospice and palliative care providers in the United States. This is a reminder to MASK UP! If you’re caring for a high-risk individual, you should consider having anyone in close contact with them wear a mask. Wearing a mask around the chronically ill & elderly would likely reduce their risk of getting the virus from someone who is infected, but shows no symptoms.... Outside of personal care tasks, you may also want to keep a reasonable distance from them or reduce the amount of time you spend in close contact to help reduce exposure risk.

Dealing with grief & loss of loved one: While there’s no automatic fix to heal from the loss of a loved one here are the following tips: * Choose good company. Find comfort in friends, old and new, who know how grief feels and who can let you be alone but not alone when you need company. * Eat healthy and often. Forgetting to eat is common when dealing with loss and running low on energy can affect your judgement. ... * Get plenty of rest. Physical and emotional exhaustion is common. You will need to extra time to rest during this time. * It’s okay to cry. Embrace all emotions. It is neither weak nor abnormal to feel emotional waves. * Set a regular sleep schedule. Make it a goal to go to bed and awaken at the same time each day. Give yourself a good amount of time to rest, but be on guard for sleeping too much as a way to avoid the hard work of grieving. * Move your body. Get up and walk or move around, preferably outside, at least a little each day. * Set goals. Set small, reachable, short-term goals so that you don’t get overwhelmed. * Make a list of daily activities. This can help while you are grieving because forgetfulness is common. * Be cautious. Do not make any major decisions or changes in home or work right after you are bereaved. * Take care of your inner needs. Find time, whether through a spiritual practice or a creative outlet, to connect to things that give you inspiration and help you maintain your sense of meaning and purpose. You could keep a journal, write a song, poem or letter to your loved one. . #hospice #palliative #palliativecare #hospicecare #hospicestrong #palliativestrong #health #grief #healing #sanbernardino #riverside #losangeles #poetry
