The L.A. County Metropolitan Transportation Authority is exploring what it would look like to have fare less public transportation throughout the city of Los Angeles. Metro's CEO Phillip Washington told Metro's board members that he hopes public transportation could go fare less as soon as the beginning of 2021, citing Covid-19 as taking a devastating toll on lower income families that are trying to prioritize transportation among other household necessities like food and rent. The South Coast Air Quality Management District - South Coast AQMD is promoting an exciting middle school and high school education program called Why Healthy Air Matters (WHAM) to increase awareness of air quality issues within the South Coast Air Basin and empower youth to drive positive change. Last year, several schools across the #LosAngeles, #Orange, #SanBernardino, and #Riverside counties successfully participated in the program. We look forward to Los Angeles Unified School District teachers participating again this year. The WHAM program is available to eligible schools. Rosanna attained a double major from UC Santa Cruz in Latin American Latino Studies and Community Studies. She is currently in the process of attaining her masters and is fluent in Spanish.
