Class members toured the Orange County Great Park gallery, experienced a guided painting session with Tupperberry Art Studio, and participated in an open-air panel discussion with leaders from Arts Orange County, South Coast Repertory, The Wooden Floor, The Newport Beach Film Festival and Laguna Playhouse.

LT in Action - Josh Friedman Josh Friedman, Leadership Tomorrow Class of 2020 alumnus, credits his experience in the program for his company’s growth with nonprofit clients over the past year. He heard from compassionate, community-minded volunteers who brought doctors to hotels to care for the homeless and leaders who spoke about their work advocating on behalf of victims of human trafficking. Leadership Tomorrow alum John Tallichet received the raffle prize from the recent LT alumni gathering which featured Orange County D.A. Todd Spitzer as the keynote speaker. John said the Bulleit Bourbon and Flowers pinot noir were some of his favorites...

It’s always a challenge to get high profile elected public figures to speak at events but Leadership Tomorrow brought Todd Spitzer, OC District Attorney, to the recent Leadership Tomorrow Alumni event and it was great hearing the latest inside perspective of what the OC District Attorney’s office is working on within our community. Fun evening with networking, a tastey drink demo from Bosscat Kitchen & Libations and even a great raffle prize. Looking forward to the next one...

Congrats to Rachel Johnson, current Board Member and Graduate of Leadership Tomorrow, on being selected by Orange Coast Magazine as one of Orange County's "35 Kickass Women". She is Captain of the Laguna Beach Police Department. A former Marine, Orange County Sheriff’s deputy, and lieutenant at the Newport Beach Police Department, Johnson joined the Laguna Beach Police Department in February. LT Class of 2017 graduate and Costa Mesa Fire & Rescue Chief Dan Stefano, a longtime Newport Beach resident, has been sworn in as President of the California Fire Chiefs Association. He is the first Costa Mesa Fire Chief ever to hold this position and the fifth from Orange County. That number includes Floyd Higgins from the City of Orange in 1969, Ron Adams from Laguna Beach in 1983, Jeff Bowman from Anaheim in 1996 and Tim Riley from Newport Beach in 1998.

Congratulations to Joe Stapleton, LT Alumni from the Class of 2011 and LT Chairman for 2012-2013 and 2013-2014 on being chosen as this year's City of Newport Beach Citizen of the Year.

We had a great turnout at the Leadership Tomorrow Alumni Mixer last night! The Bungalow provided a fun lesson in how to make an Old Fashioned by their head mixologist. Our featured speaker, Ed Hart from the CSUF Center for Family Business and one of the most popular speakers at Leadership Tomorrow gave us a very thought provoking presentation on resiliency and realism in times of adversity. We even had opportunity to connect and converse while enjoying our libations! Although we are not able to meet in person yet, we’re glad to see that the Leadership Tomorrow community is staying strong and most of all, resilient! Watch for info on our next Alumni Mixer, planned as an outdoor, socially distance event, in January 2021.

LT in Action - Joe Stapleton The Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce recently named LT alumnus Joe Stapleton as its Citizen of the Year for 2020. After graduating from Leadership Tomorrow in 2011, he has focused on getting the next generation involved in making a positive difference through community service. Helping to shape and influence his involvement today, Joe’s experience during the LT government day workshop gave him the opportunity to sit down with local elected officials and city employees to learn about decision-making and how best to approach existing public/private partnerships.
