A very important announcement about coronavirus (COVID-19) and office closures from our CEO, Dr. Patty Hughes. Our services are still available but only through... VP. ----- Video description: Dr. Patricia Hughes, a white woman with short blonde hair wearing dark-framed glasses, small silver hoop earrings, and a black coat over a purple shirt is sitting at a wooden desk with a notepad and pen on it signing to the camera. Behind her is a dark wall. Transcript: Hello everyone, it's Dr. Patty Hughes *name sign*. I'm the CEO for GLAD, Greater Los Angeles Agency on Deafness, OC DEAF, TC-GLAD, CODIE, B-GLAD, LIFESIGNS, and EDD-GLAD. We recently discussed that our offices would continue to stay open, but now that is not the case. Last night, the Governor declared an order called "Stay at Home," and Los Angeles declared a similar order called "Safer at Home". The reason for these orders is COVID-19 (Coronavirus). None of us know how to resolve this virus yet. The virus is still being researched and the whole world is focused on it. California's Governor has been trying to reduce the spread of the virus. So what should you do? Stay at home where it is safe. Don't go to work. If you need to go to the grocery store, doctor, hospital, or pharmacist, they're still open. Many restaurants are still open but not for dining in, you must take your food to go. We suggest you call the restaurant before you go to check if they're open for take-out or closed. The reason for these safety precautions is called "Social Distancing." The goal is for everyone to stay at least six feet away from each other, it reduces the risk of transmission and is safer. Stay at home. Wash your hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and water. If you don't feel well, avoid mingling with people to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Our offices will be closing to protect our staff and you as well. If you need services from GLAD, you will need to call: GLAD 323-892-2225 (VP) [email protected] CODIE 951-801-5674 (VP) [email protected] OC DEAF 714-503-0669 (VP) [email protected] TC-GLAD 805-256-1053 (VP) [email protected] B-GLAD 661-369-8858 (VP) [email protected] GLAD-EDD [email protected] Those numbers are the VP numbers for our front desks still available, when you call, you will be transferred to one of our advocates to talk with you. Our services will continue to be provided. If you need to see an advocate about insurance for example, you can. It is the same with LIFESIGNS interpreting services, all dispatchers will be available but working from home with our equipment, if a hospital needs interpreters, our dispatchers are available and ready, everything is the same except we're not working face-to-face in person. LIFESIGNS 888-930-7776 (Voice) 800-633-8883 (Emergency) [email protected] I hope you all stay healthy and take care of yourself. We will announce when we are open again in-person. Thank you very much and stay healthy. Bye.

I'm the CEO for GLAD, Greater Los Angeles Agency on Deafness, CODIE, TC-GLAD, B-GLAD, OC DEAF, GLAD-EDD, and LIFESIGNS. I understand that a lot of us are worried about what is happening with Coronavirus (COVID-19) because none of us know what to expect. This new virus is spreading world-wide, even here in California, we see new cases emerging. How are we dealing with this situation? We are still open for you to see an advocate, job placement specialist, if you need interpreting services, and other services. Contact your local office, we're still open. I hope that all of you will use videophone instead of coming to the office. Some of you use the bus and don't know if it is safe to be around other passengers. Use VP on your cellphone, your friend's VP, or your home VP. If you absolutely can't use VP, you can still come to the office. We will not prevent you from coming. Again, we hope you will use VP because we care about our staff's health too, and want to prevent the spread of COVID-19 to continue to provide services. If you're not sure about something and have questions, contact your closest center.
