We at Lazear Mack want to unequivocally state that Black Lives Matter. We work together here in the city of Oakland, a city filled with black history. We are proud to serve clients of all nationalities and colors. In the past weeks we have seen the streets outside our offices fill with our brothers & sisters in the national struggle to rid ourselves of a history of racism and the suppression of black voices. They have come together to protest the injustices shown to black me...n and women at the hands of police across this nation. We have also seen some destruction and looting of our local businesses by a few who would take advantage of peaceful protest as cover for wrongdoing. We would like to say that we encourage the right to protest but denounce any destruction or violence in our community. At this time we would encourage all of our clients, friends, and business partners to welcome dialogue concerning race and the ways in which we can improve relationships between each other and our community at large. Our hearts go out to the families of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, Rayshard Broooks and all the other families who have lost the ones they love to senseless police violence. #ListentoBlackVoices and learn.

A thoughtful reflection on this morning’s decision by SCOTUS, finding it unlawful to terminate an employee on the basis of sex, which would now statutorily have to include sexual orientation.

New Law to Help Women Combating Domestic Violence & Stalking Hold on to Their Jobs:

Today we solemnly remember the valor and bravery of our veterans, particularly those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms.

The new laws affecting independent contractors and making them employees will change the face of the #gigeconomy. Ultimately, we believe for the better, protecting California's workers from abuse by their employers.
