San Pedro, Ports O' Call is set for a rehaul. After the buildings come down, some site remediation will be necessary but that all is expected to be finished by the end of this year, according to a port spokesman. Construction of the promenade and town square is expected to begin around the end of January 2019 and take between 18 and 24 months.... Work on constructing the San Pedro Public Market, meanwhile, is expected to begin sometime in the first half of 2019, with an anticipated opening around the start of 2021. The project already is 14 months behind due to the complex negotiations required early on to work through the public-private partnership agreements between the Port of Los Angeles and the developer, LA Waterfront Alliance.
