Success Stories are The Best Stories: A few months ago a client came into the office terrified because she was being falsely accused of committing Welfare Fraud. She was a victim of severe mental and physical domestic violence and had a restraining in place against her estranged husband. Because she had previously been a stay at home mother, when her husband moved out she was compelled to reach out for public assistance until she was able to get back to work. Not only had th...e client been threatened with potential criminal consequences, but she had also been threatened with deportation by local officials if she was found to be "guilty" of welfare fraud. It appeared that she was being targeted based on her ethnicity as well as being a vulnerable victim of domestic violence. Attorney, Emily Chrim, vigorously represented the client against the absurd claims pending against her at an administrative hearing earlier this year. Today, the Judge's order was issued holding that the client was NOT liable for any over payments and that the client had been forthcoming and truthful about her living situation and financial responsibilities during the entire time she received assistance. With today's order, the client was able to breath a sigh of relief! If you believe you're being falsely accused of a crime, and want an attorney who will zealously fight to protect your rights, contact the Law Office of Emily M. Chrim!
*UPDATE* On March 29, 2018, The Law Office of Emily M. Chrim successfully argued for expungement of this same client’s prior criminal convictions. This client went from serving a FELONY sentence to a complete expungement of his criminal record in just over one year! He’s excited to be moving forward with potential job opportunities as a state employee. A clean slate and fresh start is possible. Contact the Law Office of Emily M. Chrim to consult with her about what options ...may be available to you! #CleanSlate #KnowYourRights
Yesterday, after a 3 week trial in Solano County, my client was fully acquitted of all charges! I believed in my client from the start and in the end, the jury did as well! After a long 19 months in custody for crimes he didn’t commit, my client is finally back home with his family where he belongs! When facing criminal charges, it’s important to find an attorney who will aggressively defend you. My clients words after he heard the Not Guilty, Emily, you came at them like a... lion and you never backed down. Thank you for believing in me and never giving up. Mr. Ramirez has given me permission to share this article. https://www.thereporter.com//jury-acquits-man-of-child-se/
Along with the settlement, the court ordered he be provided a certificate of innocence and that the records of his arrest and conviction be expunged.
On November 21, 2018, the day before Thanksgiving, relief for our client under Special Cancellation Of Removal for ABC Class Members was GRANTED in Immigration Court. He was able to spend Thanksgiving with his family knowing his security in the country was safe and giving thanks for the ability to live the American dream!! If you are a Guatemalan or Salvadoran citizen and registered as an ABC class member, you may be eligible to adjust your status to a legal permanent resident under special rules. Contact the Law Office of Emily M. Chrim to consult on your options.
