This is a very difficult time for everyone and the 'Shelter-at-Home' policy in place in the State of California is unprecedented. Some of you are custodial parents. Some of you are non-custodial parents. Many have asked questions about what to do under the current orders of Governor Newsom, versus the Court Orders that are in place. First of all, this is a decision that each of you must make individually and take into consideration how your children are doing. Certainly, ...if there is any flu or illness or the potential for exposure, then the decisions made will not be questioned. Many parents are following the mandates of the "Shelter-at-Home' orders in place by allowing expanded Face Time, Skype, What's App, etc. I highly recommend that you offer that to the non-custodial parents, at a minimum. Relating to those of you that are the non-custodial parent, it may be troublesome to you that you are unable to spend time with your child(ren), Please do your best to work with the other parent and make every attempt to have daily virtual contact, at a minimum. Perhaps you can even have a couple of virtual contacts each day. This is a time to put health and common sense in place, and not to take things personally or believe the decisions made by the custodial parent is negative and has a personal motivation simply to deprive you of time. Perhaps that may apply to a few, but this will all come to light in the end. We HAVE to put children's health and well being first, at this time.
