A California woman with a medical marijuana recommendation was arrested and charged in Arizona with possession of marijuana. Arizona law allows people who are able to possess marijuana in their home state to possess marijuana in Arizona. The charges were dropped, but Ms. Okun wanted her marijuana. Federal courts agreed with her and ordered the Sheriff to give her back her 3/4 of an ounce. The Sheriff did not want to do that - they filed a Writ with the Supreme Court. Supreme ...court said, "No, we will not be hearing this case". Ruling stands, Ms. Okun gets her marijuana. Hopefully it didn't dry out. (The title of this article is a bit misleading, the Supreme Court did not rule on this case at all - they denied the Writ of Certiorari. Right now doctors in any state CANNOT prescribe marijuana, they can recommend it, but not write out a prescription for it. This is because marijuana is classified as a Schedule I drug - Schedule I drugs have no recognized medical value.
