The Los Angeles County Court system has again extended its all-but-total closure - now until June 22, 2020. Clerk's offices will reopen on June 15 in order to get their paperwork in order. The Van Nuys courthouse has only 1 courtroom open to handle all business in that courthouse. The place is deserted and ghostly. This means that unless you have a need for a Domestic Violence kind of restraining order or a matter involving an international kidnapping, you cannot get anything... done in court. Stay safe out there!

This is an article by one of my competitors - er colleagues. I certainly don't mean to be promoting her services ($950/hr?), but it is one of the best articles about divorce and the mistakes people make, and the mistakes - and pain - they can avoid, that I've ever read. If you are at any stage of divorce, just thinking of it, smack in the middle, or post-judgment, I think you will find that there is something here you can learn, to your advantage.

Don't use seat belt extenders for your child safety seat. Who knew that they are so dangerous? This is an adults-only item.

This is Big News! Turns out that *some* student loans may be dischargeable after all. Share this. Tell your friends. Best of luck!

I deeply hope you never need to use this strategy, but we all know that domestic violence is widespread against children and adults by those who "love" them. It's a good idea to tuck this idea away for future reference. Stay safe!

A vaping teen just had a double lung transplant! I had no idea what a public health crisis vaping presents. Please stop, be sure your kids stop - better yet, never start. This is no joke.

Governor Newsom has issued an executive order which may help you out if your life is affected by the COVID-19 Pandemic. 1. If your employer has reduced your hours or shut down operations due to COVID-19, you can file an Unemployment Insurance (UI) claim. Or, if your child’s school is closed, and you have to miss work to be there for them, you may be eligible for Unemployment Insurance benefits. The one-week unpaid waiting period is waived, so you can collect Unemployment bene...fits for the first week you are out of work.* 2. You can file a Disability Insurance claim if a medical professional certifies that you have or have been exposed to COVID-19 - or if you’re unable to work because you are caring for an ill or quarantined family member with COVID-19. The one-week unpaid waiting period is waived, so you can collect Disability benefits for the first week you are out of work.* 3. Grants a 60-day extension of time to file State tax returns if filing them was delayed because of complaince with public health requirements related to COVID-19 filings. *More information at https://edd.ca.gov/about_edd/coronavirus-2019.htm

Hmmm. If you have been laid off through no fault of your own, for example because your place of work is closed because of a pandemic, does that make you eligible for UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS? Probably so! It's worth a try. And you can do it by phone or online. https://www.edd.ca.gov/unemployment/filing_a_claim.htm

On Monday, February 24, the Federal Administration's long-awaited revision to the Public Charge rule will take effect in Los Angeles County and throughout the nation. For many in L.A. County’s immigrant communities currently receiving public assistance, the rule change will *not* affect their benefits. https://content.govdelivery.com//CALACO/bulletins/27ce0ad

RECALL NOTICE. Do you have this water bottle? Take it away from your kids immediately, the company that produces them says.
