What bankruptcies may come under new administration.
Craps! From the bankruptcy blog: on Gambling and Debt.
Wednesday's edition of Facebook's Featured "Memories" brings about this "dark" piece from the bankruptcy blog vault.
Rest In Peace, Carrie Fisher.
A bankruptcy mill's radio advertisement features a testimonial: "I just gave them my paperwork and they took care of the rest!" Well, good for that client (and the mill that's acquired the big ad budget). Of course, when meeting with a client who'd previously filed with an oversized firm, I instantly discover the mill-prepared petition was rife with material errors. And the client notes that my process is quite different from the prior bankruptcy experience. "How so?" I ask. He answers, "Well, I'm meeting with you and you're asking questions."
It's cold (okay, "San Diego Cold"), wet and the days darken early. On the other hand, there are boxes of Belgian chocolates and this nice e-mail from a client (upon notification re: completion of a chapter 13 bankruptcy, which allowed for repayment of mortgage arrears to avoid foreclosure): "Best news ever and just in time for Christmas! I am so happy right now. Thank you for everything. You helped me save my house and now I can focus on rebuilding my credit."

I appreciate (the frequent) kind words for my assistant.
Trustees and Judge Mann gonna give the dish on the new chapter thirteen plan. Free cle, man.
Filing for bankruptcy protection (or not)? Restrained Starfleet officers (or Imperial Stormtroopers rounding up Rebels for interrogation) would admonish you to set phasers or blasters to "stun." Likewise (sort of), your bankruptcy lawyer encourages the Facebooker to set status to "private." Also (I've learned from Facebook for Dummies, 15th Ed.): any one-time "public" posting resets your privacy-setting default; and comments (or tags) on a public posting are available for public consumption.
And tonight after "Kimmel," The "Bankruptcy Blog Show with Asaph Abrams" hosts POTUS... with musical guest stars... er, no musical guest stars.
