The City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs is pleased to announce a new application cycle for the Artist-in-Residence (AIR) and City of LA (COLA) Master Artist Fellowship grant programs (applications for both programs due October 30, 2020. AIR grants of $6,000, to support community-based, participatory projects in self-selected non-arts venues throughout the City of Los Angeles. Through these residencies, AIR grants are designed to help gather, connect, and inspi...re audiences who may have little exposure to artistic and cultural opportunities. guidelines can be found here: http://dcaredesign.org/air. COLA Fellowships of $10,000 per award honor an assortment of Los Angeles’ best contemporary visual, design, literary, and performing artists. The awards allow accomplished artists to create new work while DCA organizes a museum exhibition, performing and literary arts showcase, and an online catalog to document and market the selected artists and their new works as one cross-section of the exciting Los Angeles art scene. These CARES Services residences will be 10-12 weeks and $6000-$10,000 each, if co-sponsorship is provided by the NEA. Selected CARES Services will be legally contracted to provide approximately 12- 20 works over approximately 6-10 weeks between July 1, 2021 and June 30, 2022. Interactive, Socially Distanced, Safe Live, October 2nd 2020 One night, 3 shows: 7:00, 8:00 and 9:00pm SOLD OUT!!! Created during the stay at home orders with rehearsals via Zoom Breathe will take audience members on a journey reflecting the past months of the pandemic, including the fear of COVID-19 and it's potential attack on one’s breathing, the physical isolation of the stay at home orders and the protests of George Floyd’s death by suffocation. Presented by The Original Farmers Market, LAUNCH LA and Television City with the support from the City of Los Angeles, Department of Cultural Affairs, the Los Angeles County Department of Arts and Culture, Council member David Ryu, CD 4, and the local arts and business community, Breathe is the headlining event of the 18th Annual TARFEST. An original composition will be played live by composer Bryan Curt Kostors and will be transmitted directly to the audience’s cars via FM radio, which will allow the audience to listen as if sheltering in place with the comfort and closeness of familiar friends. Created with social distancing in mind, audience members will stay in their parked cars during the performance, safe and socially distanced from the performers and other audience members.
