Spoke on behalf of Johnson and Johnson about their new Acuvue Oasys with Transitions contact lens. This contact lens gets activated by light to get darker and reduces light getting into the eye. We’ve seen it happen with transition glasses, but this is the first contact lens to have this transitions technology! Not only does it help reduce up to 70% of light getting to your eye when you’re outdoors, but it also filters up to 15% of light indoors and blocks blue light! It als...o improves scatter, starbursts, and halos at night. This isn’t meant to replace sunglasses, which is extremely important to wear for eye health. Isn’t technology great? Have you tried these new contact lenses yet?
August is children’s eye health and safety month. Has your child gotten their eye exam yet? School screenings and reading the eye chart at the pediatricians office is a small part of what we test at yearly eye exams. At their eye exam we can catch lazy eye or amblyopia (when one eye doesn’t develop as well as the other), binocular vision problems (when both eyes don’t work together), color vision defects, eye health problems, prescriptions at near or far, and much more. All... of these can effect how your child performs in school! The American Optometric Association recommends children to have an eye exam at 6 months, 3 years old, 1st grade, and every 1-2 years after. See more
Have you gotten your blood pressure checked lately? High blood pressure can cause damage to your retina (the tissue in the back of your eye), and lead to vision loss. At your eye exam we can actually look at the blood vessels in your eye to check if high blood pressure is damaging your eye health. Yes, we physically see the blood vessels, it’s pretty cool! We look for bleeding, swelling, deposits, and much more. The earlier we catch it the better the chance of reversing the damage.
Today is our 1 year anniversary! Thank you to all of our patients for trusting us with your eye care. We appreciate every single one of you!
