Glad I got this comic from J.m. Hunter ! I had seen him post about it and luckily I got one of the last copies at the time. It’s a collection of personal stori...es told through very expressive artwork and a lot of experimental techniques. What really surprised me also was the print quality. The paper is so thick! And the color printing is astounding... don’t remember seeing the color black printed so dark and rich.. like a black velvet painting. Anyway, this is a great example of how far we can stretch comics in terms of content and presentation.

Another reminder from my IPad: 2 years ago we wrapped up our Latino Comics Expo in Modesto with a long standing LCX tradition... the after party! After 2 solid... days at MJC it was time to wind down and catch up. Gilbert Hernandez started a drinking game where you had to name the secret identities of the Steve Ditko Spider-Man villains! I did really good, to be honest! We’ll see how the year plays out regarding hosting live shows again. Stay tuned!

2 years ago on this very date the Mayor of Modesto, CA welcomed the Latino Comics Expo to MJC. That was to be our last live show but we followed that up last year with our first virtual Expo. We are of course monitoring the situation regarding the state’s evolving pandemic status so stay tuned as to what to expect from the Latino Comics Expo!

This year marks the 10th Anniversary of our historic first event at the Cartoon Art Museum in San Francisco, CA! Last year we went global with our groundbreaking weeklong virtual event hosted by the Museum of Latin American Art. Today we want to share with everyone this video commemorating our first 10 years. Ricardo Padilla and I wish to thank all our various hosting organizations, the numerous sponsors, the tremendous array of talent who’ve exhibited with us and of course the enthusiastic fans across the country who’ve supported us throughout the past 10 years! Thanks to our Operations Manager Bobby Hernandez for his work on the video and to Jaime Hernandez for the use of his quote.

Knocked out a quick emergency commission for my collaborator and friend Matt Dunford for his mother’s birthday. So I’m accepting commissions. Hire me to paint your mom. Mother’s Day is fast approaching. Look how great I am at painting moms.
