Bay Area health officials remind residents that many commonly celebrated Halloween and Día de Los Muertos activities carry high risk for spreading COVID-19. Focusing on decorations, limiting activities to the people you live with, and virtual costume parties or contests will help keep our communities safe this season, especially our children. Together, we all need to do as much as we can to protect ourselves and those around us. For more details on safe and fun activities, as well as high-risk activities to avoid, please check out all of the helpful information from the Santa Clara County Public Health Department's recent Halloween press release. https://www.sccgov.org//press-statement-09-28-20-joint-sta
Congratulations to Naeil, a former Oak student, whose entry was selected as the winning design in our 50th Anniversary Logo Design Contest. Out of more than 100... students who submitted designs, his stood out with its bold, colorful and clear graphic design. Naeil's design is featured on the cover of our sketchbook which has been distributed to each of the nearly 3,000 students in the district. Additionally, we can all view the logo designs submitted at a virtual art exhibit hosted by the Los Altos History Museum which starts on Oct 22nd. Thank you Naeil for honoring the Los Altos Art Docent Program with your logo design contribution.

Great 2nd day for our kindergarten and first grade students.
The three pillars of flattening the curve of the COVID-19 spread are hand hygiene, wearing facial coverings and keeping physically distant from others. By practicing these in conjunction, we can ensure the safety of our students, staff, teachers, and our community members at home. Facial coverings are required on all students (TK-8) and staff on campus at all times unless eating, drinking or doing rigorous exercise. Physical distancing will reduce the likelihood of cont...act that may lead to transmission of the coronavirus and has been a widely used strategy during the pandemic. Staff have been trained and students will be trained on protocols for physical distancing for both indoor and outdoor spaces and helpful signage will be posted. Hand hygiene, along with mask/facial covering wearing and physical distancing, is one of the most effective strategies to prevent the spread of most respiratory viruses including the coronavirus.
