EARTH DAY // @greengirlleah is our local environmental inspiration. Everyday we look to her for how to become more sustainable and active in our community. She is one of our very favorite humans and we appreciate and value the knowledge she shared so deeply. We know you will too! Every little thing we do, the small shifts, truly do make an impact. Did you know that hydroponic (grown in water) gardening can use 90% less water, 1/4th the space (meaning you can plant ...more), less soil (or sometimes none at all) and can even promotes faster overall growth of crops? Last year, I started growing food with my @Lettucegrow vertical garden which essentially recycles water over and over, uses less soil, and less water overall to produce lots of yummy food. It doesn’t take up much space at all and you can stack a ton of these right next to each other and grow anything from herbs, to lettuce, to full on veggies + fruits. Sometimes people are skeptical of hydroponics because it doesn’t nourish the soil on earth or regenerate/sequester as much carbon, however, it’s important to look at agriculture intersectionally and value different solutions for different purposes. I think growing food in this way, especially in urban areas that are struggling with food apartheid, is an energy efficient + easily implementable way to grow food and combat issues of food insecurity. Over the summer I plan on taking botany + farming classes to learn more about sustainable agriculture + the different solutions that exist to address food inequity. Responsible for washing baking trays and production equipment as well as overall cleanliness of washing / production area. Must be able to stand for long periods of time and lift 50 lbs. great team environment and looking for a employee with a good attitude.
