There are winds of change in what people want and expect. This change impacts each of us as leaders and society as a whole. It will change the way we lead and allocate resources. The world is yearning for fairness. This yearning for fairness goes beyond what’s in it for me. Protestors are not only demanding more for themselves; they are also demanding a better and fairer society for all. This week’s blog discusses how, as leaders, we need to allocate resources fairly, not just wisely.
The key to unlocking magical performance is trust. Other than loved, trusted is perhaps the feeling people yearn for most. When someone feels truly trusted, they are able to access that extraordinary power within that enables them to do what they were trusted to do no matter how difficult or challenging. The upside of trust is so much higher than the downside. In this week’s blog post, David shares that over his lifetime, by trusting people he has gained far more than he has lost.
The problem with change is, in fact, not change at all. It's mistrust. When people don't trust the intentions of the person imposing change, they resist the change. Contrary to what most leaders believe, trust does not stem from a rational analysis of data, nor does it result from consistent delivery on promises. Data and consistency can engender a feeling of reliability but not one of trust.... This week’s blog post describes how to ignite the feeling of trust and gets to the root cause of people's resistance to change. https://lapininternational.com/leadership-/its-about-trust/
What could be possible in a world where we take responsibility for our impact? David Lapin recently defined a leader as anybody who has to or wants to influence the thoughts, attitudes, behaviors, and choices of another individual without resorting to his or her own power and status. If we think of leadership in this way, then we're all leading every day of our lives. This week, one of Lapin's consultants, Victoria de Onis, CPCC, ACC, illuminates the leadership potential that resides within you. Everything you need is inside, awaiting your discovery.
When it comes to DE&I training, is your company taking a procedural or tactical approach to a relational issue? Creating an inclusive culture, which is the ultimate goal, is built on the foundation of relationship and trust. Implicit bias training, like other diversity training, is an essential element to raising self-awareness, but what it does not address is the motivation to do and be better. People have to care that they have biases and want to change.... Learn to focus on the fundamentals first in this week’s blog post written by our Lead Inclusion & Diversity Consultant, Sunny Lee Goodman.
