Very sad day today. Officer Val Martinez, 13 year LAPD Veteran, assigned to Mission Division passed away this morning, July 24, 2020. Val, whose wife is pregnant with twins, died after a 'long, courageous battle' with COVID-19. Our hearts go out to his family and all who loved him. Our similarities outweigh our differences. We look out into the crowds and see people just like usfathers & mothers, sons & daughters. We know we are not perfect. We know policing doesn’t fix these societal ills. So let’s challenge ourselves to be strongertogether.

This afternoon we saw the best of Los Angeles. Thousands of peaceful demonstrators marched in solidarity. We will continue to facilitate everyone’s 1st amendment right to assemble peacefully...we will continue to listen, learn, and grow.

CURFEW: A city-wide curfew will again be in place again tonight from 8:00pm tonight until 5:30am Monday. All residents must stay home, indoors and off the streets.

CURFEW in Downtown LA tonight. No one is allowed in public or on the streets. The curfew will apply to DTLA, between the 110 fwy on the west, Alameda on the east, and 10 fwy on the south, and 101 fwy on the north between 8 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. Violators subject to arrest.

Let’s come together in this time of need ~ we are stronger together

Our hearts are broken with the news from media reports of the loss of Kobe Bryant & his daughter Gianna. He will always be a figure that captured the imagination of generations of Angelenos. Our thoughts are with his family during this unimaginably difficult time as we all mourn.

Our hearts are sad - Captain Torres was always there to help us out and we will greatly miss this extremely hard working man.... Our Hearts & prayers go out to LA City Park Ranger Family on hearing the news of the passing of Captain Albert Torres was working during the Saddle Ridge fire has died. Capt. Albert Torres was patrolling the San Fernando city parks affected by the fire on Friday. Later, Torres said he wasn’t feeling well and collapsed. He was taken to the hospital ...and died of a heart attack early Saturday morning.
