We've begun our second session of our summer writing program! On our first excursion, we went searching for whales off Newport Beach. We were a bit nervous about not spotting whales and feeling disappointed, but we didn't need to have feared. We spotted the majestic blue whales, dolphins, and sea lions! We also encountered interesting people on the boat that the students interviewed and videotaped. It's going to be another fun month of researching and exploring!

We went to Old Town Pasadena to premier our movie, "Doll Tale: Finding Humanity." We celebrated with a pizza party and the showing of the movie that they put together in three weeks. Special thanks to Mr. Sean for filming and editing this large project. Thanks also to Mr. Danny for staying up until 6am putting it all together in a DVD format. Mrs. Shana, thank you for helping the students with the pre and post production, and also to Sarah for your incredible help for the whole month as an indispensable aid!

Guess where we went today? Thanks to Lisa Kim of Dreamworks, some of us visited the campus where long hours of creative and thoughtful process takes place to make movies. Great food and tour of the amazing Dreamworks village!

We have a story outline completed. Next week: translating the story into a screenplay!

We have a lively group of creative kids this summer. Here, they are learning to give a 30 second elevator speech trying to get another person interested in getting their story made into a movie.

Our summer program is in full swing and the kids are having a great time!
