As I stood on the balcony watching the sun set over the Bay, I wanted to take a moment to reflect about this amazing property in the Berkeley Hills. Back in May, I was referred to a wonderful family whose mother recently passed away and sadly, they needed to sell their longtime family home. Unfortunately, due to COVID, the family was unable to fly out from Michigan to meet me and help gather personal items that remained in the home. So instead, we met via Zoom (a first for me... at the time) and a key was mailed to me a week later. I was warned by one of the daughters that her mother was an artist and may have a few things in the house that would need to be cleared out in order to sell their home. I was also told that they have a warm orange hue on the walls and they hope I am not one of those agents who want to paint everything white. After several months of sorting through the personal property, hosting an estate sale, easing nosy neighbors’ concerns, and getting the house ready, we officially closed this past week. I have documented before and after photos (check my highlights), the drop dead gorgeous views (check today's story), and even shared some personal sentiment when I was gifted a cookbook that was personally signed by Thomas Keller himself. There are listings that will resonate with me forever, and I think this will definitely be one of them. Hopefully, I will get to meet them in person one day, hear more stories about their family, and taste some of their amazing home cooked food that I see them post about daily!
