My new kitchen! Thanks to a kitchen water intrusion in November we embarked on this journey. Look at the before and after photos - it’s like going from the dark to the light (which is the theme for so much at this time so it’s perfect). It took almost 6 weeks to do the kitchen and all the flooring in the whole house - holidays were a glitch and we had to evacuate to a hotel a few times...BUT this is so worth it. Life definitely can be challenging sometimes, but of course it makes us stronger in the end. Last week started off with 2 major bills for repairs on our house, including termite and landscape. Then,my daughter’s car was vandalized and many personal possessions stolen, including her purse. Yesterday we found out we had a plumbing leak and today we have people tearing up our kitchen and wood flooring, while the termite repair people are outside banging away on our house, and ...my poor little dog is so stressed out. We have no kitchen for 4-5 days so I had to set up a makeshift one in the living room. It will all be worth it in the end of course, but definitely makes for a hard working environment! Also is challenging for a neat freak like me to have everything out of place and a mess everywhere! I am breathing in deep calming breaths!! The universe wanted to remind me to practice patience...and have new flooring. So we may remodel the kitchen too. Luckily everyone is healthy.

Should I stay or should I go?... If I go there will be trouble, and if I stay it will be double The Clash, 1981 If you were blessed to grow up in the 80s like me this song brings back a lot of memories. I thought of it the other day when I was taking to a friend about changes. Although The Clash song referred to a relationship we were discussing career changes. It got me thinking about this song and how choices aren’t always black and white. In the famous Clash song each c...hoice is fraught with negativity both will lead to trouble - not an ideal decision! Staying usually involves, at least in the mind, remaining within a realm that is creating unhappiness or friction. In other words, if you are in a place where there is negative energy you’ll likely envision staying to mean remaining IN the negative place. Going can also create fear because it is a departure from the status quo, which we are used to (even if we are not happy with it). It is the reason why many victims stay in abusive relationships, for example, or why many unhappy workers stay at their jobs instead of seeking one that would suit better or bring joy. Many people have a great fear of ending something, or see it as quitting fear of the unknownwhere will I go? What will I do? But what if we looked at the decision in a different way? What if we equated staying with evolving? You can either stay in what is, and possibly remain unhappy and unfulfilled, OR you can stay and EVOLVE. This is obviously a very positive way to view staying, which is often a fearful choice. But, with a stay/evolve perspective we have to work at changing the circumstance to bring a positive result. So the stay/evolve aspect is not just a giving into the status quo, but is rather an active choice to work to make things betterthus a new beginning even though one is staying. Anatole France I went on a great nature hike today at Calavera Lake - I always love the walk around the lake, the hike up the volcano, and this bridge, which reminds me of being in Southeast Asia. It also got me thinking about paths. I’ve always loved photographing paths - in the woods, at the beach, wherever. I suppose it’s because they offer so much hope and excitement, maybe a touch of fear as we... ponder where we will end up. Life is similar; we take many paths - annually, monthly, weekly, daily ...there are always decisions to be made and consequences - both rewards and disappointments. But each is a learning lesson and teaches us something different. Even though our paths are predetermined (at least that is what I believe), we are so blessed to be able to make decisions, make a difference, and be free and happy. As long as we face each new path with love in our hearts and a great attitude, we get to take new journeys constantly (even if we don’t go anywhere). Dogs live in the moment. They experience utter joy and happiness doing things they love and being with the humans they love - whether it’s sitting on the couch cuddling, running crazy through the ocean or window surfing in the car - and they are always present 100% of the time. It is such a joy to watch them play and make friends and be loved. Dogs love us unconditionally, no matter what we look like or say or do, or whether we are having a bad day. They have no prejudices or... judgments or agendas (unless they have suffered at the hands of humans). Humans can learn many lessons from observing dogs. I love how many birds I see in my yard! Last night there was even a huge owl atop the neighbor’s chimney - it was too dark to get a photo but I was blessed to see it (I love owls). The first photo is an Allen’s Hummingbird. They have the most beautiful orange jeweled chests. The middle picture I’m not sure of, but it is so pretty. If you know what it is please share! Happy birthday to my birth father Erik Braunn (best known as the lead guitar player for Iron Butterfly). The world lost a great talent when he passed, but in the time he was here he contributed so much to the music industry. He was an immensely talented musician and song writer. He jammed with some of the best guitar players, like Jimmy Hendrix and many others, and he wrote a beautiful song about me that makes me cry every time I hear it. Sunday workday! I showed a cool house in Vista today on a great lot. It had a nice koi pond with this unique water feature. Great place to sit with a book or a cup of coffee in the morning. I love seeing what people do with their personal space, and many times it inspires great ideas!

I love the light coming in the through the windows of this beautiful winding staircase, with high ceilings and exposed beams. I tried to shoot the whole thing with my phone camera but didn’t quite capture the feeling. This is just one beautiful feature of a home that is closing next week my clients are over the moon with joy and excitement. It is such a perfect home for them and their family.

This little puppy girl has stolen my heart. She’s been with us 4 months and is now 10 months young. she has destroyed over 10 drip line sprinkler heads, several blankets, a sliding screen door, several dog beds, 2 leashes, a dog seat belt and other items, it is hard to look at that face and be anything but in love. After the tough start she had in life I am determined to make the rest of it happy and filled with love (and of course continue teaching and training)!
