Lakewood Lancers Boys Basketball

Lakewood Boys Varsity Basketball season officially begins on Monday, November 28th with the Ocean View Tournament of Champions against Saddleback Valley at 6:00pm and on Tuesday, November 29th at 3:00pm against Warren in pool play action. All games will be played at Ocean View High School. Lakewood Boys Junior Varsity Basketball begins on Monday, November 28th against Lifeline Charter at 7:30pm at home in the Junior Varsity Tournament. They will also play Tuesday, November 29th at 6:00pm and Wednesday, November 30th at 7:30pm. Come out and support Lakewood Boys Basketball.

Lakewood Boys Basketball will begin Fall League on Monday, September 12th. Junior Varsity and Varsity will be competing each Monday until October 31st. All games will be played at Gahr High School.

Lakewood Boys Basketball will begin Spring League play for the Junior Varsity and Varsity levels on Wednesday, April 6th. All games will be played at Gahr High School and be played on Monday nights following April 6th.

The Lakewood Boys Basketball program was saddened to hear of the passing of a long time supporter, Mike Byrum, also known as Super Fan. Mike Byrum was a huge supporter of all Lakewood Athletics but from the years 2003-2015 raised $44,450 for the basketball program. He will be missed.

Another year of Lakewood Basketball has come to a close. The Varsity finished with a 12-16 record, a four game improvement from last season. The Junior Varsity team finished 19-7 overall and 8-4 in league. The Sophomore team finished 12-8 overall and 10-2 in league. The Freshman team finished 22-4 overall and 9-3 in league. It was a great season for all levels. We will start to prepare for next season starting next week.

Lakewood Boys Varsity Basketball qualified for the 2016 CIF 1-AA Playoffs. First round matchup on Wednesday, February 17th against Knight High School in Palmdale @ 7:00pm. Come out and support and cheer on the guys.

Another year of Lakewood Basketball is coming to a close. We aren't done yet though. Sunday the brackets for the playoffs will be released and we will find out if we made it and who will play in the first round.

Final week of league play next week. JV & Varsity on the road Tuesday against Wilson and Thursday against Cabrillo. Freshman and Sophomore on the road against Wilson on Wednesday and home against Cabrillo on Friday. Varsity needs to win the last two games for a chance to make the playoffs.

Tough week last week, but we push forward and keep our eyes on the prize. Two big games against Jordan on Monday and then Senior Night against Compton on Wednesday night. Playoffs on the horizon. We need every win. Come out and support the program.

Started off on the right foot with wins against Wilson and Cabrillo last week. Keep it going this week to end the four game home stand against Poly on Wednesday and Millikan on Friday.

4 game homestand starting next week on Wednesday against Wilson and Friday against Cabrillo. The following week on Wednesday against Poly and Friday against Millikan.

Tough first week of Moore League for the Lakewood Boys Varsity Basketball team. Freshman and Sophomores went 2-1 while Junior Varsity went 1-1. Varsity had a great opportunity, but ended up starting league 0-2. Will try to bounce back this week with our first home league game on Monday against Jordan at 6:30pm and then at Compton on Wednesday night at 6:30pm. Freshman and Sophomores play at home against Compton on Tuesday at 3pm and 4:30pm.

First week of Moore League begins tomorrow night. Lakewood Lancers visit Long Beach Poly tomorrow at 6:30pm and on Friday visit Millikan at 6:30pm.
