01/25/2021 NWS MTR has issued a FLASH FLOOD WATCH from Jan 26 afternoon through Jan 28, 2021 afternoon. This flash flood watch includes the Sonoma County LNU ...Complex and Glass Fire Burn Scars. The heaviest rainfall is expected between Tuesday night through Wednesday morning; this is the likeliest window for debris thresholds to be met for the burn scars. 01/24/2021- After discussion with our partners at the National Weather Service (NWS) SF Bay Area/Monterey Office (MTR), NWS advises that a weak cold front has moved through our region this past Friday (Jan 22). We are now looking at additional storm activity through the end of the month. A typical winter cold front will arrive Sunday afternoon through Sunday night with stratiform rain along the frontal boundary followed by trailing post-frontal showers overnight Sunday into Monday. Rain rates may briefly be moderate during the frontal passage. NWS will have a Wind Gust Advisory Sun 7 pm to Mon 10 am PST (see attached graphic). A much colder air mass will move behind this front so expect early morning temperatures to be near or below freezing early Monday morning, with more widespread areas below freezing on Tuesday morning. We could also see a dusting to a couple of inches of snow in higher terrain across the NWS MRT’s area of responsibility (AOR). NWS’s primary focus for the week is a moderate atmospheric river Tue-Thu. This prolonged rain event will bring widespread moderate to heavy rainfall across NWS MRT AOR. NWS advises that models show that the moisture plume will hit the North Bay first by Tuesday evening, then continue moving southward overnight into Wednesday morning towards Monterey and San Benito Counties. There is potential that all burn scars within the NWS MTR’s AOR will have the potential to meet debris flow criteria during this event. NWS also notes that slides or washouts outside of burn scar areas may also be possible, especially in steep terrain. Gusty southerly winds will accompany the heaviest rain during this time frame. Rain continues through Thursday, with most areas seeing lighter amounts. Models show that unsettled weather will continue as a potential fourth system may impact our area, arriving either late Friday night or sometime on Saturday.

A Red Flag warning will be in effect starting early Wednesday morning (Oct. 14) through Friday morning (Oct. 16). A Red Flag warning means that our region will experience fire weather conditions that make wildfires more likely due to high heat, low humidity, and high winds. The warning includes portions of the North Bay, particularly areas at high elevations.

We realize Lakeville residents may be seeing smoke in the area. There's a fire North of Novato near 101 and the dumps. At this time the fire is not a threat to Sonoma County.
