Early morning rock slide on US 50 at Echo Summit. There were no injuries but the road is still closed with an unknown time of reopening.

Nice to bump into our retired Assistant Fire Chief, Don Norby, while out training. Yes Don, that’s what a fire hose and nozzle looks like after 30 years of retirement.

We call Mondays long check. On long check day, Lake Valley firefighters check and service our equipment. This way we are always ready when needed! Station 6 personnel enjoyed the spring weather and the friendly waves from our neighbors #lakevalleyfire

February 20, 2021 (8:45 AM) CHP received a call of a semi truck and trailer down the side of an embankment on SR-89 north of Eagle Point Campground at 4:30 AM. ... Upon arrival, it was determined to be a solo traffic collision with no injuries. The vehicle is completely off of the roadway and has had no effect on traffic flow. CHP and Caltrans are going to assist the tow company with one way traffic control within the next few hours. There will be significant traffic delays on SR-89 traveling through Emerald Bay at this time. Avoid taking this route for the next few hours. Traffic will most likely be held once the vehicle is pulled out. The tow truck is currently on its way from Strawberry. Drive safe! See more

Check out this short YouTube video! Santiago had never left the Bay Area, but @Hyundai and @Selema, host of The Un-Adventurers, decided to change that. They all stopped by Lake Valley Fire Protection District last year. We enjoyed hosting and wish Santiago all the best in his pursuit of a career in the fire service.
