Hello from Lakeside School. You may know that on July 17th the state of California announced public schools can physically open when its county has been off the state monitoring list for 14 days. Schools that don't meet the requirement must begin the year distance learning. Kern County is on the monitoring list, and we’re told it won't get off anytime soon. Therefore, distance learning will be in place for the first quarter of the school year. The first day of school is Au...gust 13th, and to prepare students for distance learning we will distribute Chromebooks and other necessary materials from August 4th through August 7th. In order to adhere to appropriate safety guidelines, we will distribute these materials using a drive through method so parents and students do not need to exit their car. Below is the schedule. Location: Lakeside School [school front parking lot] Time: 8 am 11 am o Tuesday, August 4 - Kindergarten through 5th Grade o Wednesday, August 5 - 6th Grade o Thursday, August 6 7th Grade o Friday, August 7 8th Grade Any student that still has a Chromebook from last spring will need to sign a new agreement, and will keep the Chromebook they currently have. If you are unable to pick up a Chromebook during your scheduled date/time, you’ll need to make an appointment to come to the school office to get one. In order to keep everyone safe, we are following all safety guidelines recommended by public health professionals. Thank you.

Hello from the Lakeside Union School District. Since school closure in March, Gov. Gavin Newsom and the Legislature established requirements for the reopening of the 2020/2021 school year. Part of this requirement is that all school districts must explain how they will implement in-person learning and/or distance learning in a report called the Learning Continuity and Attendance Plan. Dear Lakeside Union School District families, To prepare for the reopening of schools, we formed a District Advisory Committee made up of various stakeholders in our district, including parents, teachers, union representatives, and district leaders. The purpose of the committee is to develop different scenarios for reopening, and make recommendations to the school board for their approval. We are happy to announce that the Lakeside Pool will be open for business June 15, 2020. We are offering private swim lessons from 9-12, two recreation swim ti...mes from 1-2:45 & 3-4:45, and Family Friday Night swim from 6-8 pm. Due to new COVID-19 CDC guideline restrictions, our private lessons will be available to children and adults who are capable of maintaining social distancing within the water. Prices for private lessons are $125 for two weeks. Recreation swim $2.50 per swimmer. Registration for classes will be Fri, Sat, & Sun. 6/12, 6/13, 6/14/20. 10-4 pm. We are sad to announce that The Booster Club and Lakeside School have together decided to cancel this years barbecue. This is not a decision we made lightly, as... we know that this is a Lakeside tradition well over 75 years in the making. Our response to Covid-19 is literally changing by the hour. Starting tomorrow, March 20th, all school offices will be closed, and no school office staff will be on campus.
