The proposed historic designation of the La Jolla home of the late Walter Munk, renowned for his research at UC San Diego’s Scripps Institution of Oceanography,... has the support of the La Jolla Shores Association, which this week approved sending a letter to the State Historical Resources Commission, which will hear the nomination April 30. Last week at the LJSA January meeting we enjoyed a very informative presentation from Dimitri Deheyn of Scripps Institution of Oceanography (SIO) and his Proposal for Monitoring Airborne Microplastics. The LJSA has a long and valued relationship with SIO and often are invited to give presentations on current or future conditions of our oceans and environment. The slide "How Long Before Its Gone" is a stunning reminder of life of microplastics in our oceans. Thank you Dimitri, we will do our best to let everyone know the good work you are doing!
