Every year the La Jolla Historical Society picks the Preservation Award and in 2019 it went to this gorgeous eggshell blue 1955 Cadillac Fleetwood owned by Nelly & Rigoberto Castaneda. It was described by Chief Honorary Judge Ed Gilbertson as the Best Preserved Cadillac he had ever seen and is likely the best preserved Cadillac known. As the Chairman of the La Jolla Concours d’Elegance, I never thought I would be doing one post, let alone two, announcing the delay of the 2020 La Jolla Concours d’Elegance. After a long period of consideration with our planning committee, event production team, and City officials, we must prioritize the safety and health of all our attendees, entrants, sponsors, vendors, staff and volunteers. With the uncertainty over how the virus will be impacting life this coming fall, ...it is with a heavy heart that we must formally announce that the 16th Annual La Jolla Concours d’Elegance, currently scheduled for September 2020, will be moved to April 16-18, 2021. Our fundraising efforts continue, and we encourage our supporters to donate at this link LaJollaHistory.org/support/donating/. Each year, the net proceeds from the La Jolla Concours d’Elegance support the La Jolla Historical Society’s mission to preserve the rich history of La Jolla through exhibitions, educational programs, architecture tours, youth education, and annual community events. Personally, the La Jolla Concours has been a passion project for me for many years. It is of utmost importance to me to continually deliver a Concours that is of the same high caliber that you have all grown to know and love. I will truly miss seeing all of our guests, car entrants, sponsors, and Concours team in 2020, but look forward to making the April 2021 Concours the best celebration of automotive excellence to date.
