You’re not alone...
This is so true...
For almost twenty years, I have been doing therapy in this office with some of the most amazing patients I have been blessed to know. People who have called me for help in a crisis, often at the lowest point in their lives... Together, we worked to pick up the pieces of their lives, learning new ways of coping, solving problems and being in relationships...... Learning how they’re wired the way they’re wired... and why... Figuring out what life experiences impacted them or traumatized them... So they could once and for all break the cycle of depression, anxiety, and unhealthy coping mechanisms that lead to the crisis in the first place... The couples and families who entrusted their marriages and children to me, were brave enough to be brutally honest even when it was hard. Especially when it was hard... In return, I gave everything in my toolbox and everything in my heart to help them heal with compassion and love... I opened my doors on September 12, 2001, an auspicious day because it was the day after September 11. Today, in the midst of a global pandemic, I am packing up all of the momentos from all of these years and closing the office. For the past year, I have been thinking about whether I should leave the office and begin seeing people out of my home. But I couldn’t figure out how it would work. So I prayed about it. And asked the universe for a clear answer. Beginning in March, COVID-19 decided for me. Because it was no longer safe to see people in person, I began seeing patients remotely. Surprisingly and thankfully, it has worked better than I could’ve imagined. Still wondering what I should do in the long term, I actually didn’t have to decide. The universe gave me a very clear answer this week when I found out the new landlord does not want to renew my lease. I want to express my deepest gratitude to every single one of you who sat on my couch, played with my toys, and cried your hearts out as you searched for meaning and healing... It has been an honor and a privilege to be your therapist in this office... I look forward to our work together continuing...Remotely for now...And if it ever becomes safe again, in another office... With my deepest love and gratitude... Lainie Davidson, lcsw
