Hello LAFS! Your Librarians have a new and exciting database for you to try until November 21st, 2020. We have a trial with ProQuest eBook Central, specifically their Arts eBook Collection! This collection has over 10,400 books with a wide range of topics: from physical and digital art to film and screen studies, to music and performing arts and much more. This Database is used by the likes of Oxford, Harvard, Stanford, and more than 110 universities and there is something i...n there for everyone. This is a trial and we want to know if it’s something that you like! Head over to our A-Z Database at https://lafilm.libguides.com/startguide and find it under ProQuest eBook Central at https://ezproxy.lafilm.edu:2190/lib/lafilm. Once you have perused through the eBooks and found something you like, you can download it and you are on your way to learning. Once you have let us know if it’s something you like! We are here to bring you more online digital resources, but we can only do that if we hear from you! Have any questions or thoughts about the trial? Like the database? Have a better one you think we should check out? Send us an email at [email protected]. We look forward to hearing from you soon. Your Los Angeles Film School Library Team.
We have a lot of information when it comes to the Library, so here is a short intro to highlighting some of the Library’s services and resources. We have several online films, scripts, music, and books that Students, Alumni & Staff can check out for free! You can read more about our Library here: https://connect.lafilm.edu/introduction-to-the-library/ Just a reminder, some of the services mentioned will be limited until further notice. The Library is physically closed but is virtually open! We will continue to update our online resources on the Library’s website and our social media accounts.
Today we honor Juneteenth, which marks a date of major significance in American history. This date refers to the emancipation day celebrated by African American...s in the U.S., and commemorates the announcement of the abolition of slavery on June 19, 1865. There are many remarkable films and documentaries that contribute to the conversation about social justice and racial tensions through real-life stories. Here is a collection we encourage everyone to see. https://bit.ly/3eshal7 See more
