Well, we knew this was coming... due to a shrinking number of vendors and attendees, Urban Village has decided to end the season on Sunday, Sept. 1st. So, there are two weeks left to stop by on Sunday from 9am-1pm and find something unique to share with your family.
In honor of National Farmers Market Week, we bring you four funny questions that farmers get over and over and over again...
Today is a LocalMotion Sunday in Lafayette! Ride or walk to the Lafayette Farmer's Market and get coupons to spend at the market. Just tell the info desk you rode/walked. 9am to 1pm.
One of the great things about a farmers' market is that it reminds us of what is in season in Northern California right now. Some items currently in season: tomatoes, melons, peppers, cucumbers, squash, green beans and corn. See a complete list by clicking on the link below. See you at the market tomorrow (Sunday) from 9am - 1pm!
Did you know that the Lafayette Farmers' Market is a "California Certified Farmers' Market?" This means that every farmer and producer at the market is certified by the State, and that they grow or make everything they sell. See you at the market tomorrow 9am - 1pm!
Come out to the farmers market tomorrow and try a spanish tortilla from Patatas. It's different from a Mexican tortilla - it is an egg and potato omelet. You order it plain, with red peppers or with spinach.
Looks like a beautiful morning for the Lafayette Farmers' Market! Say hello to Living Apothecary, based in Oakland, who makes creative cold pressed juices, almond milk, and kefir water infusions. http://www.livingapothecary.com/
Kashiwase Farms - run by Steven & Lisa Kashiwase - grows certified organic apricots, apriums, pears, cherries, nectarines, peaches, plums, pluots, and almonds on 190 acres in Winton, CA - about 100 miles from Lafayette. https://www.facebook.com/kashiwasefarms
Quick reminder: Tonight Sustainable Lafayette is hosting a special screening of "Symphony of the Soil" at the Lafayette Library at 6:30pm. A movie, snacks, coffee, and great speaker all for just a $5 suggested donation! http://www.sustainablelafayette.org/?page_id=18
It's supposed to be cloudy tomorrow, but no rain, and that will make it perfect for a cup of Zola's coffee and a comfortable temperature for finding all of your favorite summer fruits!
Besides great produce, the Lafayette Farmers' Market also features many interesting specialty food vendors. "The Cultured Kitchen" offers high quality, pre-prepared, organic raw food products like spreads, soups, food bars, desserts, and more. Stop by on Sunday and learn more about the benefits of raw and cultured foods. http://www.rawsupportfoods.com
Soil has been the foundation for agriculture, including the food we buy at the farmers' market, throughout human history. You can learn more about this miraculous substance at a special screening of the film "Symphony of the Soil" hosted by Sustainable Lafayette at the Lafayette Library on Tuesday, June 25th at 6:30pm.
