Today, we received the following information regarding the memorial service for our Ladle guests who were killed in March. Please continue to pray for the families who have lost a son, father, and friend. "Nearly a month after their deaths at a homeless camp, the lives of Randy Ferris, Walter Jones, and Rodney Diffendal will be honored at an interfaith memorial service downtown. The three were killed March 15 while sleeping in their tents in the B Street tunnel at San Diego City College. This service is open to the public. Masks and social distancing are required." #ladlefellowship

But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. ...(Isaiah 53:5 NIV) Today, we remember Jesus’ death on the cross prayerfully and gratefully. We are also reminded that through Jesus, we have hope and light and the promise of eternity. Jesus, our words of gratitude and shouts of praise will never be enough to thank you, but we will spend our whole lives trying. Thank you for salvation and hope and forgiveness. Jesus, we love you.
This Hits Us Hard: Last week, a driver (possibly under the influence) plowed his car through a temporary homeless camp, blocks from our church. It was raining that evening; dozens were huddled in the tunnel that passes by SD City College. Killed in the crash were Rodney Diffendal, 40; Randy Ferris, 65; and Walter Jones, 61. Five others were hospitalized with injuries of varying severity, while another person declined medical treatment. Sadly, we know that 2 of the 3 who died were frequent Ladle guests. During our Ladle meal last Wednesday, we mourned and prayed with some of our Ladle guests who lost their friends in the accident. Please pray for the families who have lost a son, father, or friend. Our heart breaks for our community and we lift in prayer those who are injured. #ladlefellowship

Over the past 2 years, our Street Corner Care medical team has enjoyed this beautiful garden created by one of the participants in the Dreams for Change, Safe Parking program (SPP). It has been a blessing getting to know the gardener and watching the transformation of the garden through the seasons. One of our volunteers was even gifted flowers from the garden when our medical team last served! #ladlefellowship #streetcornercare #dreamsforchange
Benny, one of our creative Ladle guests, thoughtfully drew these wonderful Valentine's Day cards and dropped them off at Ladle as a gift of art and care for all! Happy Valentine's Day! #ladlefellowship #valentinesday

Happy Valentine's Day, Ladle family & friends. #ladlefellowship
Valentine's Day was the theme at Ladle as guests wore red, our wonderful kitchen crew prepared a delicious dinner, complete with sweet Valentine's gifts, and some of our Wednesday night team took a quick break for a photo. #ladlefellowship
We are so thankful to Sackcloth & Ashes for generously donating 500 much-needed blankets! Cold nights, rain, and high winds have made terrible nights for our vulnerable neighbors on the streets. These blankets are not only a blessing for our Ladle guests but also important for survival. Thank you to Sackcloth & Ashes for caring for those experiencing homelessness. #ladlefellowship #sackcloth&ashes

Last week, one of our Ladle guests came back after her meal to let us know how much she enjoys reading the scripture and devotionals she receives with her meal each week. Water had spilled on her devotion and it had fallen apart, so she had come back to ask for another to keep with her throughout the week. We thought we'd share this devotion that meant so much to our sweet Ladle guest with you. #ladlefellowship https://www.ladle2020.com/ https://ladlefellowship.org/

October is here and one of our creative Ladle guests decided to celebrate by decorating his bike.

Our Ladle guest & friend "R" is a "MacGyver" with anything that has wheels. Check out that big fat tire on his bike. "R" says the he has 3 orders for his new prototype of a bike. He's full of creativity, skills, and just a downright nice gentleman who brightens our day. We are thankful to be able to serve wonderful guests like "R" each week. https://www.ladle2020.com/ #ladlefellowship
This is a reminder that we gave to our Ladle guests with their meal. We hope it encourages you as well! https://www.ladle2020.com/ #ladlefellowship
God blessed us with a wonderful Ladle day despite the extreme heat. Thank you to our amazing volunteers who passed out water bottles with ice water, hats, sunglasses, and sunblock. A big thank you to our kitchen crew for their dedication and delicious meals. M, one of our sweet senior guests was so happy after the meal that she came by and said, "Thank you! The chef makes a mean fried chicken!" We are thankful for our Ladle guests, who despite the heat and the obstacles of the day still came over to say thank you and brighten our day https://www.ladle2020.com/ #ladlefellowship
We are thankful for our Street Corner Care team who go out into the streets to care for our vulnerable neighbors!
Our friend Hal "The San Diego Sock Man" was with us on Sunday, providing socks for our Ladle guests, sharing his testimony, and telling them about the importance of a relationship with God. We are so thankful for Hal, his friend Herman, and their servant hearts! https://www.ladle2020.com/ #ladlefellowship #halthesandiegosockman
Our Street Corner Care medical team is a tremendous blessing!
Prolonged exposure to the heat and poor air quality from recent fires have taken a toll on the health of many of our vulnerable neighbors, so we were thankful to be able to give out ice-cold bottled water, hats, sunblock, bandanas, masks, and encouragement along with our Sunday meals. Please continue to pray for our Ladle guests as they do their best to persevere despite the difficulties they face daily. https://www.ladle2020.com/ #ladlefellowship
