Just want clear up any confusion when using products for oily skin and share some tips when treating your oily skin . 1. You need to manually exfoliate often *wrong over exfoliating (using a scrub daily) can actually strip the skin of the skins natural oils and protective barrier causing your skin to over produce oil to compensate and mimic the protective layer. Instead use 2-3x a wk. . 2. Use Witch Hazel or alcohol as your toner daily again your stripping the acid m...antle (protective outer layer of the skin). This could lead to premature aging, over production of oil + irritation it’s too harsh and doesn’t provide your skin with any nourishment . 3. Using acne serums when you don’t have any active acne if you do not see any visible acne or feel any bumps under skin and you’re using acne serums you’re pissing off your skin. This could lead to actual breakouts because you’re killing you’re acid mantle again and using products that are too harsh for your skin condition. INSTEAD: 1. There are different exfoliating mechanisms, daily exfoliation is ok when it’s in a retinol form and the skin has built a tolerance for daily use. Begin 2x a wk for 1 month and the following month 3x a wk and the following week 5-7x a wks. Tip: if you want an exfoliating cleaner that’s ok! Just be sure to add a hydrating toner along with it ! My recommendation @cosmedix_ Clarify Cleanser + Benefit balance . 2. This is the least expensive way to nourish your Skin if you can’t invest in a good serum like a Hyaluronic acid serum. Use a hydrating toner, because of its thin consistency it can get in deeper than a moisturizer, will hydrate the skin within (leading to less oil production) and will act as a driver for the next product that is applied. . 3. Use a hydrating serum if you can afford to splurge and use a clinical grade one like a Hyaluronic Acid serum, one of the most popular ingredients. Clinical grade skin care ingredients use higher technology so that our skin knows how to respond with these molecules when applied on our skin. You can apply a OTC Hyaluronic Acid and it could be mainly filler + not respond with the cells in our skin correctly. . See more
