If you or a loved one's only income is social security and they do not file a tax return, they will still get a stimulus check WITHOUT filing a tax return. Both IRS and CA FTB have extended the filing and payment deadline to 7/15/2020--that means, you have until 7/15/2020 to file and pay your taxes (if balance due) without any penalties & interest. You DO NOT have to file an extension--unless you want to have until 10/15/2020 to file. Also, first quarterly estimated payment due date has been extended to 7/15/2020--No guidance yet on the June 15th quarterly estimated payment due date but we expect that to be pushed out as well.... Regular extensions will still need to be filed by 7/15/2020 if you want until October 15, 2020 to file. I will still be filing regular extensions the first week of April to be safe. As we all know everything is changing daily, as updates come in terms of taxes, I will do everything I can to keep you in the loop.

IRS is not extending the deadline but giving a 90 day extension of time to pay. CA has given an extension to 6/15/20 to file and pay.
