Please refer to this information regarding the Lake, Holser, and Ranch2 Fires. For the Holser Fire, this is in Ventura County, but has crossed over just a little into Los Angeles County. There is currently no threat to the Val Verde community or Castaic.
New Evacuation Orders issued for the #LakeFire, as follows: North of Avenue D/Highway 138 West of 150th St. W East of 200th St. W South of Avenue A
Lake Fire as of 2:30 pm. Extreme heat has caused an increase in fire activity this afternoon. While there have been no additional evacuation orders issued at this time, if you live near the fire area, we encourage you to monitor this fire closely and review your Ready Set Go plan.
The Lake Fire in the Lake Hughes area is currently at 10,500 acres, with no containment as of yet. Unfortunately, three structures are confirmed to have been destroyed. We urge all residents to take some time to review their Ready Set Go Wildfire Action Plan. www.fire.lacounty.gov/rsg
Lake Fire in the Lake Hughes area is currently 6,000 acres.
Southbound lanes of 14 freeway now open. Northbound lanes should open within 30 minutes or so. The Number 3 lane (slow lane) in both directions will remain closed between Newhall and Golden Valley. The Placerita Canyon offramp in both directions will remain closed.
Elsmere Fire - current road closures: Sierra Hwy between Newhall and Golden Valley; Placerita Canyon west of Sand Canyon to the freeway; 14 freeway closure remains in place.
Elsmere Fire - Forward progress of Fire has been stopped at 130 acres, with 30% containment. All evacuations have been lifted, but road closures remain in place: 14 freeway between 5/14 split and Golden Valley; Sierra Highway from Sand Canyon to San Fernando Road; Golden Valley from the 14 to Newhall Ranch Road.
Elsmere Fire - 14 freeway & Newhall Ave - 2nd Alarm brush fire. Evacuation Orders issued between Dockweiler and Newhall Avenue from freeway up to Valle del Oro. Evacuation Warning for neighborhood north of that location.
This morning was a reminder that we still need to be prepared for earthquakes as well! Please make sure you have a Disaster Kit, a plan to communicate with family members, and that your belongings have been secured as much as possible to reduce damages.
