We launch Earth Day to May Day by uplifting that our liberation is interconnected, and the demand for Abolition, as well as a Fair & Just Transition. Pushing for a healthy ecosystem requires a critical & intersectional movement. We start with a call to action for several events taking place this weekend for folks to support in Santa Barbara. Learn more and stay up to date at www.MayDay805.org Today, lets use the momentum for systemic change that Earth Day in Santa Barbara represents in the fight for a Just Transition and a Green New Deal. Save the date for the SB County Grassroots Green New Deal Junta Grande on Saturday May 15th at noon. Artist: @artisaright

"When an individual is protesting society's refusal to acknowledge his dignity as a human being, his very act of protest confers dignity on him." - Bayard Rusti...n Today we celebrate the incredible work of Bayard Rustin, civil rights activist, trade unionist, and trailblazing strategist behind the 1963 March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. Bayard Rustin conceived the coalition of liberal, labor and religious leaders who supported passage of the civil rights and anti-poverty legislation of the 1960s and, as the first executive director of the AFL-CIO's A. Philip Randolph Institute, he worked closely with the labor movement to ensure African American workers' rightful place in the House of Labor. #blackhistorymonth

LEON couldn't host their annual El Día del Abuelito this year due to the pandemic but still gathered with our sister agencies to put together a Covid friendly valentines gift. We where pleased to continue traditions in other ways and still help distribute these valentines to our adult community who are the most vulnerable! Thank you for allowing La Casa de la Raza to serve you for the last 50 years!
