Pain management supported by mindfulness is clearly effective. My only caution is that folks should not forego pain meds to rely solely on mindfulness. If mindfulness works in conjunction with pain meds, you can carefully reduce pain meds, but never think this needs to be an all mindfulness or all pain meds situation. http://www.bbc.com/news/blogs-ouch-30534749

Nice response to the Anderson Cooper mindfulness post. Here is a link to Tara Brach meditations. She is very interesting and provides a very practical approach to meditation. By the way, although referred to as Buddhist meditation, you will find these are simple non-religious meditations that are completely accessible to everyone. Check it out. http://www.tarabrach.com/audioarchives-guided-meditations.h

60 Minutes and Anderson Cooper did a great piece on Mindfulness this week. This is the follow up segment of the effect it had on Anderson Cooper. Yes, the sitting cross legged and eating in silence looks silly, but walking down the street staring at your phone looks pretty silly too. Have you sat down to lunch while reading something and realized you'd finished your lunch without even noticing? That is mindlessness. You have lost the appreciation of the taste, smell and feeli...ng of eating. Does it not make sense that if you notice what you are doing, if you are mindful of what you are doing, you are going to enjoy the experiences more? http://www.cbsnews.com/n/the-newly-mindful-anderson-cooper/
